Manohar Parrikar dead,Centre announces national mourning,PM Modi ,Guv Malik and Omar tribute Parikar

Srinagar/March,17 : Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar passed away Sunday after a prolonged illness. Parikar was su:ffering from pancreatic ailment and had undergone treatment in the US as well as at AIIMS Delhi and a private hospital in Mumbai.

The Central Government in Delhi announced national mourning tomorrow following the demise of Parrikar. The national flag will fly at half-mast in New Delhi and in capitals of states and Union Territories. State funeral will be accorded to Parrikar. A meeting of the Union Cabinet has been called at 10 am on Monday.

Condoling the demise of Parikar, Prime Minister Narendra  Modi paid tributes to former Goa Chief Minister as he in a tweet said “India will be eternally grateful to Shri Manohar Parrikar for his tenure as our Defence Minister. When he was RM, India witnessed a series of decisions that enhanced India’s security capacities, boosted indigenous defence production and bettered the lives of ex-servicemen.

Condoling the demise of former Goa Chief Minister  Manohar Parrikar,the Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik described him as a widely respected public figure and an able administrator whose service to the country will always be remembered. Governor prayed for peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family members.

National Conference Vice President and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah while condoling the death of Parikar tributed him as he said Parikar’s untimely demise had left a void that would be difficult to fill. “My heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Manohar Parrikar Sahib. His untimely demise has left a void that will be difficult to fill. May his soul rest in peace,” Abdullah tweeted
