Yasin Malik booked under PSA, shifted to Kote Balwal jail Jammu, Mirwaiz condemns detention

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik was booked under Public Safety Act (PSA), a party spokesman said Thursday morning. Meanwhile Maisuma area in uptown Srinagar observed a spontaneous shutdown soon after hearing the news about the detention of Yaseen Malik under Public Safety Act (PSA). Mirwaiz Molvi Umar Farooq has in a tweet condemned the detention of Yaseen Malik terming it undemocratic and unlawful.
“Malik sahab has been booked under the draconian law, Public Safety Act. He is being shifted to Kot Balwal jail in Jammu,” he said, adding that “ Thursday morning, he was informed that he has been booked under PSA and will be shifted to Kotbalwal jail,” said a spokesman of JKLF Thursday morning .JKLF strongly condemns this “arbitrary arrest” and use of PSA against a political leader, he added.
He termed it as a “glaring display of frustration” of Indian rulers and their abettors in Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanhile a shutdown of on Thursday in Maisuma area in uptown Srinagar against the detention of JKLF Chairman Mohammad Yaseen Malik and his shifting to Kote Balwal jail Jammu hit normal life in the area.
Reports said all shops and business and commercial establishments remained shut in Maisuma.
Malik who was detained on February 22 was booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) and shifted to Kot Balwal jail in Jammu Thursday morning
Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq condemned the slapping of Public Safety Act on the JKLF chief Muhammad Yasin Malik and shifting him to Kotbalwal jail Jammu. “Strongly condemn slapping of draconian PSA and shifting to #KotBalwalJail Jammu of #YasinMalik & others by the authorities.These illegal & undemocratic tactics will not stop people & leadership from demanding peaceful resolution of #KashmirDispute in accordance with people’s will,” Mirwaiz wrote on his Twitter handle. Malik, who was arrested on February 22, was booked under PSA and shifted to Kot Balwal jail Jammu earlier Thursday.
