Ramban : The Department of Horticulture Friday organized a mega awareness camp at Batote wherein the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC), Ramban, Nawab Din was the chief guest and more than 200 orchardists from Batote and its adjoining villages participated in the camp.
Chief Horticulture Officer, Mukesh Kumar, Horticulture Development Officer, Dr. Mohammed Nazran Khan, Sarpanchs, Panchs and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
On the occasion, the resource persons educated the farmers about various government sponsored schemes and latest techniques in the field to improve their know-how about horticulture to improve their income.
During an interaction session the farmers brought various issues into the notice of the officers.
Various equipments and latest machineries related to horticulture were also put to display besides distributing the educational literature among the farmers.
Farmers were also demonstrated about the drip irrigation method on spot in the field.
The ADDC while calling the Ramban district most suitable for horticulture asked the farmers to take optimum advantage of such awareness programs to enhance their knowledge in the latest techniques of farming. He urged them to take interest in horticulture and take up horticulture related issues of their areas with the department officials for redressal.
The ADDC asked the field functionaries to strive hard for achieving the targets in full and also conduct regular visits to the farmer’s fields for on spot solutions of their technical issues. He also exhorted upon officers and officials of department to redouble their efforts to exploit the potential of areas for making Batote a Horticulture hub.
