Srinagar /March, 8: As restrictions imposed to thwart protests against the detention of JKLF Chairman Mohammad Yaseen Malik after authorities slapped PSA on him in most of the areas of Srinagar city the heavy contingents of politics and paramilitaries deployed to maintain peace order on Friday prevented people  in Nowhatta area of Old Srinagar city and for the second consecutive week from offering weekly congregational Friday prayers.

As already reported law enforcing authorities had imposed restrictions in parts of Srinagar city including Nowhatta where the historic Jamia Masjid is located.

Taking to micro blogging social networking site twitter Mirwaiz Molvi Umar Farooq wrote “for the 2nd consecutive week mandatory Friday Prayers barred at #JamaMasjid Srinagar by the ruling regime. Restrictions Imposed in #ShareKhaas, People caged in homes, leadership either under #HouseArrest or jailed under PSA. ”

Mirwaiz, who addresses the weekly Friday congregation at the mosque, was placed under house detention Thursday evening.
