The laxity shown by the school education department in regulating the implementation of its guidelines by the managements of the private schools is brewing up resentment among the people across the state. The newspaper reports about the charging of tuition fee by some private schools banned by the Jammu & Kashmir High Court for winter months n Kashmir has not caught the attention of the administrative secretary of the school education department despite the tall claims by the government it has started the process of restoring the pristine glory of education system in the state. Ironically none from the school education department has dared to seek explanations from private schools for violating the guidelines issued by the school education department from time to time . Irony of the fact is that the administrative secretary of the school education department does not find time to pull up the managements of the leading private schools for either charging tuition fee from the students for or violating the education department’s decisions on school timings in Srinagar. The violations by the private schools are though troubling for both the students and as wells the parents, but the school education department despite huge public resentment does not bother to enforce either the court directions or the government decisions on private schools across the length and breadth of the state.

Not the selectiveness, but objectivity in action can restore the pristine glory of education system in the state. Better for the education department to redefine and redesign the priorities and strategies for streamlining the educational system in Jammu & Kashmir state.

Though the allegations are galore that private schools managements are getting a free hand in violating both the court directions and the government decisions due to the laxity shown by the authorities of school education department, but the government is yet to take a strong notice of such allegations against the managements of some leading private schools in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir valley. Allegations are galore that government by virtue of showing laxity in taking actions against the managements of private schools on violating both court directives and the decisions of the school educations department has virtually gone for complete surrender. The authorities of school education department are showing laxity in taking actions against the private school management on charges of misconduct and violation of court orders and government decisions Not the selectiveness, but objectivity in action can restore the pristine glory of education system in the state. Better for the education department to redefine and redesign its priorities and strategies for streamlining the educational system in Jammu & Kashmir state.
