Srinagar: On JRL call, scores of Hurriyat Conference leaders and activists after the Friday prayers held a protest against the banning of Jamat-e-Islami and recent NIA raids on pro-freedom leaders, their relatives and others.
The protestors including senior leaders, Ameer Hamza Shah, Bilal Sidiqui, Molvi Bashir Irfani, Syed Mohammad Shafi, Mohammad Maqbool Magami, Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah, Imran Ahmad Bhat, Syed Zahoor-ul-Haq Geelani, Abdul Rashid Lone, Mohammad Shafi Mir, Mohammad Rafiq Shah, Ashiq Hussain Sofi and hundreds others.
, Hurriyat leaders said that repressive measures against the people of state of Jammu and Kashmir in general and pro-freedom religo-political organizations can never suppress the just struggle of Kashmiris. The said “banning a registered organization like Jamaat-e-Islami is nothing but act of revenge by biased rulers of India as they have never tolerated any minority or their organizations.”
Condemning the recent raids by NIA, leaders said that “harassing common people, pro-freedom leadership and their relatives, is a tool often used by Delhi rulers to create a chaotic and suffocating atmosphere to crush the freedom voice, but they have failed in doing so in past and will definitely fail in future as well.”
