Jammu /Feb, 28: Fresh landslides in Ramban-Ramsoo sector on Thursday forced the closure of Jammu highway yet again and fresh road clearance operation is underway to restore the traffic on the highway at the earliest keeping in view the shortage of essentials in landlocked Kashmir Valley.
Traffic police officials overseeing the movement of traffic on Srinagar-Jammu highway said ‘a landslide hit the highway at Moom Passi area in Ramsoo sector early Thursday morning leaving scores of passenger and commercial vehicles stranded on the highway.’ adding that ‘efforts are on to restore the 270-km highway – the only all weather road linking Kashmir with rest of the country. The clearance of the road will take some time’ .
The frequent closure of the highway for the last two months has led to shortage of fuel and other essential commodities in the valley.
