Srinagar/Feb, 27 : Two militants were Wednesday morning killed in a gunfight with the government forces in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, police said.
A police official said a joint team of army, SOG and CRPF personnel after receiving inputs about the presence of militants in Meemener village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district launched a search operation in the village, in the outskirts of Srinagar Shopian town at about 5. 00 a. M.
He said the militants opened fire on the forces soon after the searchers were launched and heavy exchange of fire between the militants and the government forces triggered a gunfight .A police spokesman said two militants affiliated with Jaish-e-Muhammad were killed in the gunfight. “Two Jaish militants were killed in the gunfight. Arms and ammunition were recovered. Searches are going on,” he said.
