Shopian: District Level Monitoring Committee for Self Help Group (SHG) of engineers met Tuesday under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Dr Owais Ahmad to review the progress and effective implementation of ‘Self Help Group of Engineers Scheme’ upto Dec 2018 (3rd quarter).
Superintendent Engineer (Hydraulic-PHE/I&FC) Shopian, Assistant director employment, EO Municipality Shopian, assistant executive Engineers of PDD, PHE, PWD, Divisional Forest Officer Shopian, Assistant, Career Counselling Officer District Employment and Counselling Centre Shopian and the representatives of Self Help Group of Engineers attended the meeting.
The meeting was informed that ending December 2018, 24 Self Help Groups of Engineers are registered with District Employment & Counselling Centre Shopian involving 99 Engineers (63 Degree Holders & 36 Diploma Holders) in total. These Self Help Groups have been allotted 62 works during the CFY involving the cost of 4.90 lakh by PHE, R&B, Mughal Road Division Shopian, municipal council.
The DDC said all the line departments shall necessary comply with the Cabinet decision/SHG Guidelines and strictly allot the works quota to SHGs without any fail.
Representatives of Self Help Group of Engineers also raised certain issues like release of payments in time bound manner and provision of soft loan to self help groups from financial institutions.
DDC assured them best possible support and said matter regarding easy lending facility will be taken up with bank authorities soon.
On the occasion AD Employment was directed to come up with a detailed report and recommendation for better implementation of the scheme.
All the concerned stake holders were directed to work with utmost zeal and dedication so that the cherished goal of providing gainful and dignified self-employment to these unemployed engineers is achieved.
