Punjabi Lekhak Sabha releases 2 books by Miyan Singh Udaasi

Jammu: Punjab Lekhak Sabha (Regd.), Jammu organized an impressive book release function at K L Saigal Hall, Cultural Academy, Jammu today where two Punjabi books titled ‘Katha Ikk Gujhey Heerey Di’ and ‘Kavita Udaasi Di’, a written by S. Miya Singh Udaas and compiled & edited by Bikramjeet Singh Vicky. A large number of intellectuals, writers and artists attended the programme. Dr. Baljeet Kaur, HoD Punjabi Department, University of Jammu was the chief guest on this occasion whereas Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages presided over the function. Dr. Monojit, President Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Dr. Baljeet Raina, General Secretary and S. Miyan Singh, the author, were present in the presidium. Dr. Monojit welcomed the dignitaries and guests.
S. Ichhu Pal Singh, former Editor Sheeraza Punjabi and Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik read out their critical papers reflecting views and approached of the books released.
Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn in his presidential address said that the books reveal the chronicle facts of about one hundred years as S. Miyan Singh has described his life’s experiences at the age of 96 and has come up with his experiences of his participation in second world war, partition time, 1965 Indo- Pak War, 1971 Ino- Pak War when Bangladesh came to its existence. He said that the poetry book reflects his religious faiths, implications of his faith and teachings in his poetry. He said that the senior and very senior people need to be taken care of and their experience to be heard.
In her address, Dr. Baljeet Kaur said that University of Jammu is working on research work on Punjabi writers. She assured that her department would make every effort to preserve good writings of state’s Punjabi literature as well as the literature related to the literary aspects of the state’s Punjabi literature. She said that the creations of the writers of the state need to be evaluated and research work to be done by the scholars.
Dr. Monojit, President PLS, Narinder Singh Bikramjeet Singh Vicky also expressed their views. Dr. Baljit Raina, General Secretary, Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Jammu conducted the proceedings of the programme.
Among others who were present in the programme included Mssrs. Pyasa Anjum, Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik, Jang S Varman, Rajveer Singh, Gurpreet Kaur, Swamy Anternirav, Popinder Singh Paras, Harbhajan Singh Upasak, Suraj Singh Suraj, Suraj Rattan, Dr. Raj Kumar, Joginder Singh Pandhi, Bhupinder Singh Bhargav, Didar Singh, M S Kamra, Dr. Nirmal and others.
