Rajouri: District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the status of various utilities for relief operations in border areas.
The meeting was attended by SSP YougalManhas, ADDC Rajouri Mohammad Rashid, ADC Sher Singh, ADC Nowshera, SE PWD(R&B), SE Hydraulic Circle, CMO, Executive Engineers PWD (R&B) Rajouri/Nowshera and PHE Rajouri/ Nowshera, CAHO, CAO, ARTO and other concerned officers.
Threadbare discussion was held on various issues related to border areas which include border bunker construction, accommodation, status of under construction individual and community bunkers, status of ration supply along with movement plan for transportation of ration and essential supplies at various locations, transportation arrangements, livestock arrangements, and critical care ambulances available in the district.
It was also informed during the meeting that there are 23 shelling affected villages in Nowshera region, of which, 12 villages have suffered the worst losses.
Similarly, in Sunderbani region, there are 6 border firing affected villages. It was informed that there were 119 existing bunkers in the district while work on 145 bunkers is in progress besides work is in progress on 20 bunkers in Manjakote region the meeting was informed.
DDC directed the AD (FCS & CA) to ensure that sufficient ration is stocked in the stores to cater to the needs of border people suffering due to border shelling. He asked PHE to put in place alternative arrangement of drinking water at the shelter sheds.
Meanwhile, the DDC chalked out a Border outreach program in which the district administration under his supervision along with Police and army authorities shall reach out to the population residing along the zero line and adjoining villages to assess the situation and extend help to the affected people. Besides, all the issues of border residents ranging from basic amenities to cross border firing shall be heard for redressal during outreach program.
