Political parties condemn Lethpora attack

Srinagar: Soon after several CRPF men were killed in an attack in Lethpora area, various political parties and leaders condemned the attack. National Conference Vice President and former chief minister, Omar Abdullah condemned the attack on CRPF and termed it as ‘disturbing trend reminiscent of dark days’. “Terrible news coming from the valley.
A number of CRPF soldiers are reported to have been killed & injured in an IED blast. I condemn this attack in the strongest possible terms. My prayers for the injured & condolences to the families of the bereaved. #Kashmir,” Omar tweeted.
“Jaish has claimed the blast as a suicide (fidaeen) attack reminiscent of the dark days of militancy pre 2004-05. #Kashmir,” he said in his another tweet. Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former CM Mehbooba Mufti termed the attack as ‘very disturbing news and called for the end of this madness’.
“Disturbing news coming in from #awantipura . Twelve of our security personnel have been martyred and several have been injured. No words are enough to condemn the gruesome attack. How many more lives will be snuffed out before this madness ends?,” Mehbooba tweeted.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) condemned the attack on CRPF convoy, describing it as ‘cowardly and inhuman attack’ on the part of attacker and conveyed deepest condolences to bereaved families of slain CRPF personnel.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, JKPCC spokesperson condemned the suicide attack on CRPF personnel and blamed Centre Govt for miserably failing to restore peace in valley, saying that “the wrongly policies adopted by the Centre Govt has vitiated the peace further in Kashmir valley and there was no end to bloodshed.”
Calling the Awantipora attack as ‘gruesome, cowardly and terrible’, the spokesperson conveyed deepest condolences to bereaved families of slain CRPF personnel and sympathized with them.
Peoples Conference (PC) Chairman Sajad Gani Lone on Thursday condemned the attack on CRPF convoy in Lehtpora area of Awantipora, terming it as cowardly act. He expressed solidarity with the bereaved families of those soldiers killed in the attack and also prayed for speedy recovery of the injured soldiers.
“Strongly condemn the cowardly attack on CRPF convoy in Lethpora today. Deeply disturbed by this senseless act of violence. My heart goes out for the families of soldiers killed in the attack and pray for speedy recovery of the injured soldiers,” Lone tweeted.
