Jammu/Feb, 13: More than 1400 trucks carrying essentials Wednesday morning reached Kashmir valley after they were allowed to move to Srinagar Tuesday evening by the traffic police officials who Wednesday morning also allowed more than three thousand stranded trucks to move to Kashmir valley. Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) stranded in Ramban-Banihal sector have were on Wednesday morning also allowed to move towards Kashmir valley as the one way traffic resumed after seven days is continuing on the highway
Traffic police officials overseeing the movement of traffic on Srinagar-Jammu highway said ‘highway was restored for one-way traffic on Tuesday afternoon after seven days following avalanches and landslides. Since Tuesday afternoon some 1400 trucks carrying petroleum products, vegetables, poultry, mutton and other essentials”, adding that about 3000 stranded tucks and light vehicles were also allowed Wednesday morning to move towards Srinagar ‘.
The closure of Jammu-Srinagar highway the only surface link connecting Kashmir with Jammu and other parts of the country had caused serious shortages of essentials and petroleum products in valley.
