Srinagar: The boxing players of Srinagar district on account of their inability to reach Jammu for participation in state boxing championship at Jammu, the winter capital, have demanded postponement of the championship.
As per Kashmir News Service (KNS), the boxing players of Srinagar district held a protest demonstration at Press Enclave Srinagar over the demand for postponement of the boxing competition in Jammu, saying that “the championship being held at state level but not at national or international level can be postponed to ensure participation of all in the state level boxing competition.”
One of the protesting female boxers said, “The closure of the road and unprecedented hike in air fares leaves no chance for us to reach Jammu for participation in the state level boxing competition in time and we demand postponement which is not a big issue.”
