Jammu: As part of 30th National Road Safety Week, Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) in collaboration with Red FM organized painting competition for school children here Thursday.
Additional Transport Commissioner, Aijaz Abdullah Saraf presided over the event.
Around 1500 students from various educational institutions of Jammu participated in the competition.
Addressing the gathering, Saraf appreciated the efforts of the Department for organising the painting competition at such a mega level to inculcate the habit of road safety rules among the youngsters.
He said the students are future of the nation and will help to spread the awareness among the people regarding road safety rules so as to minimize the rate of fatal accidents.
Additional Transport Commissioner also lauded the efforts of school managements in bringing the school children for the painting competition.
Regional Transport Officer Jammu, D R Kanethia thanked all the participants, teachers, team of Red FM and jurists for making the program a grand success and hoped that the participants will educate the people about the rules and regulations of the traffic in their respective areas.
Later, prizes were distributed among the participants who were adjudged the first three positions in three categories and consolation prizes were also given to participants.
