Militant killed in brief shootout in Chakoora Pulwama

Srinagar: A militant was killed after a gunfight broke out at Chakoora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Reports said that government forces cordoned off Chakoora village after receiving inputs about the presence of militants.
Reports added that militants opened fire on search party shortly after they launched an operation.
An official said a militant was killed in the brief shootout whose identity is being ascertained.
However, local sources identified the slain as Irfan Ahmad Sheikh of Chakoora village. Irfan was commander for district Pulwama and was active since last years.
Local sources said that a militant managed to escape from the spot, however, the official denied such reports.
Reports added that clashes erupted between locals and Forces after the encounter.
