Jammu: State Pollution Control Board Saturday carried out an anti-polythene drive in various areas here during which it seized a large quantity of the banned material.
The drive conducted on the directions of Chairman SPCB, Ravi Kesar was carried out in Shanker Colony, Gangyal Jammu and its adjoining areas. Field executives of SPCB seized around 1350 Kgs of banned polythene material.
Regional Director, SPCB, Jammu Shelly Ranjan, has directed the units consented for the manufacturing of 50-micron polythene carry bag that any violation of the conditions of the consent order shall involve strict action as per the law including closing down erring units.
Furthermore, the traders, shopkeepers, hawkers and general public were urged to avoid storage, sale and use of banned polythene materials.
