Kargil: Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Vikas Kundal Friday inaugurated an Archery Tournament under Khelo India here at Stakkhang Tambis.
Around 32 teams from across the district are participating in the tournament, organized by the District Administration in collaboration with Naran Society Tambis.
Headquarter Assistant, Assistant Director Planning, other concerned officers, Sarpanchs, Panchs and prominent citizens were present.
The Deputy Commissioner, while congratulating the participating teams for their enthusiasm and passion for archery, expressed hope that the tournament will provide ideal platform to the players to polish their skills.
The DC said the District administration is committed to give impetus to sports activities in the district and the tournament has been organized with the twin objective to encourage the young players as well as to promote and revive traditional archery in the district.
Later an awareness program on SVEEP was also organized on the occasion during which the District Nodal Officer SVEEP Kargil and team threw light on the importance of participating in the democratic process through voting.
A large number of sports lovers from Tambis and adjoining areas thronged the venue to witness the archery matches.
