Jammu: Advisor to the Governor, Khurshid Ahmed Ganai, Tuesday inaugurated 11th Tribal Youth Exchange Program organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Jammu in collaboration with Ministry of Home Affairs.
Secretary, Youth Services & Sports and Information, Sarmad Hafeez, Director General Youth Service & Sports, Dr. Saleem Ul Rehman were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Advisor welcomed the youth from across the country participating in the exchange program and asked them to explore the culture, heritage and tourism of the region.
He also asked the concerned officers for making best possible arrangements for their hospitality.
Highlighting the contribution of tribal youth in the sports arena at national as well as international level, the Advisor urged the youth for taking education serious by besides co-curricular activities.
The Advisor said these activities bring all-round development in the youth and appreciated the efforts of the organizers for providing a platform to the youth to exchange ideas, experiences, besides exploring unique culture, heritage and beauty of the state.
Dressed up in colorful costumes folk dance groups showcased their talent and mesmerized the audience with their performance. It was a feast for the eyes as the participants brought alive the rich, traditional heritage in front of the audience.
Ganai said the folk dances forms are demonstration of rich culture and heritage. He added that it is pleasure to see that all of these performers have unique features that make them distinctive and special.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary, Youth Services & Sports and Information, Sarmad Hafeez said these exchange programs enable youth to explore diversity of cultures, religion and heritage. He added that the program is a learning process and urged the youth that besides learning in class room one should explored places and interact with people from different cultures to help in overall personality development.
On the occasion, the Advisor felicitated Nawaz Hussain for securing 4th position in National Level Declamation organized by NYSK. He also felicitated by Roma Wani and Senior Journalist Suahil Kazmi.
During the shutdown period, the power supply to Hatli Morh, Taranagar, Janglote, Chackludan, Parliband, Old Bus Stand, Sawanchak, Shastri Nagar, Basantpur and adjoining areas shall remain affected,
Likewise, the shutdown of 50 JKVA Transformer Vijai fed from 120 MVA, 132/66 KV Grid Station Kathua shall be observed on January 30 from 03 pm to 05 pm.
During the shutdown period, the power supply to Nagri, Barnoti, Palli, Nanan, Jakhbar, Saidpur, Kathua City Ward No. 4, 5, 6 & Changran Village shall remain affected.
