A spontaneous shutdown on the fourth death anniversary of a Hizb Ul Mujahideen Commander Abid Khan on Sunday crippled normal lied in Tral township in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
All shops and other business establishments remained closed in the town while public transport was off the roads. It may be recalled here that Abid Khan alias Hamza of Handoora hamlet of Tral was killed along with his associate Sheeraz Ahmed Dar at Aourigund village in a gunfight with the government forces on January 27, 2015.
The Hizb commander plunged into prominence after killing the commanding officer of Army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles, Col Munindra Nath Rai, and head constable Sanjeev Singh of SOG during the gunfight.
