LMD Udhampur books erring traders, realizes Rs 50000 as fine

Udhampur: Enforcement squad of Legal Metrology Department, Udhampur Friday conducted a market inspection drive in various markets here during which it booked a number of traders for violations.
The team was headed by Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Udhampur and comprised Inspector Legal Metrology Udhampur and other officers. They visited various business establishments at Garhi, Domail, Kallar, Udhampur and adjoining areas.
During the inspection, provisional stores, LPG Gas Agencies, petrol pumps, general stores, sweet shops, rice and flour mills, auto rikshaws were inspected for their compliance with regards to various provisions of J&K Standard of Weights and Measures Enforcement Act 2011(Amended) and Packages Commodities Rules.
The team challaned 16 erring traders including two LPG Gas Agencies and three Auto Rikshaws and a penalty of Rs 50,000 was imposed on the erring traders.
The Department has asked all the traders to use only verified weights and measures for business transactions and ensure the mandatory declarations of MRP, PKD, Net Contents and complete address and Customer care Number etc. are written on the Commodities to be sold.
