Pulwama: Under the aegis of BetiBachaoBetiPadao (BBBP) program, department of ICDS Pulwama Wednesday organised one day Girl Enlightenment Program here at Pulwama.
District Development Commissioner, Ghulam Mohammad Dar was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
While highlighting the importance of Program, Additional Deputy Commissioner/ DPO Mir Ahsan said that the aim of the Program is to target the 163 school dropout girls who have been identified by the ICDS Department under the BBBP program. The DPO briefed about the action plan for enrolling these girls in the schools and comprehensively detailed the participants about the case study module of each dropout girl.
While interacting with the school dropout girls, the DDC sought the reasons from each girl about leaving the studies midway. Terming the matter as a challenge for the District Administration particularly the education department, the DDC said the issue is to be tackled in a multidimensional manner with the involvement of all stakeholders.
He enjoined upon the Education and ICDS departments that an action plan for each girl should be formulated and weekly reports in this regard be submitted to the DDC’s office. The DDC stressed upon the ICDS department to make all logistic support available to the girls including special classroom, so that the fundamentals in their basic education are strengthened.
The program was attended by the additional deputy commissioner, District Program Officer, ICDS, Pulwama Assistant Commissioner Development, CMO, BMOs, ZEOs, CDPO, Supervisors, Anganwadi Workers, and large number of school dropout girls.
