Srinagar: Reacting to reports that a group of people attempted to lynch two youth belonging to Pir Panjal in Jammu region, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday urged Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur to initiate an enquiry into the incident.
Ms Mehbooba, who is the former chief minister of J&K, alleged that lynching has become a norm in the country now.
“Lynching has become a norm in our country now. When an unruly mob attacks innocents for trivial reasons like their religion /what they eat, no action is taken by those who are running the nation. Request @jairamthakurbjp ji to initiate an enquiry,” Ms Mehbooba wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
Two youth, identified as Zaffar Iqbal and Arshad Khan, residents of Poonch and Rajouri districts in Jammu region, were allegedly thrashed by a group of people in Kufri in Shimla.
