Jammu trade federations call on Advisor (S), submit memorandum of demands

Jammu: Several trade federations from Jammu including Traders Federation Ware House, Raghunath Bazar Businessmen Association and Kanak Mandi Traders Association Monday called on the Advisor to Governor, Kewal Kumar Sharma and submitted memorandum of their demands.
Excise Commissioner, Talat Parvez Rohella, Commissioner, Commercial Taxes, PK Bhat and VC JDA, Pawan Rathore were present on the occasion.
The demands put forth during the meeting pertained to E-way Bill limit, GST returns, GST slabs, abolishing Lakhanpur Toll tax, ownership rights and godown space for warehouse, Tourism promotion, plying of decorated matador from Railway station to Raghunath Bazar, installation of special lightening system in Raghunath bazar, shifting of warehouse and many alike issues.
The delegations also drew the attention of the Advisor towards the effect on local traders due to modern wholesale stores.
While interacting with the delegations, the Advisor said the Governor’s Administration is committed towards the development of business sector in the state and was taking effective steps in doing so.
The Trade delegations welcomed the decision of the Governor’s Administration during the GST Council meeting opting for the decisions that will benefit the traders and manufacturers in the State.
The Advisor assured the delegations that their genuine demands related to GST will be taken up in the GST council.
A detailed discussion was also held on streamlining of traffic in Raghunath bazaar and Kanak Mandi area.
The trade delegations demanded for declaring City Chowk to Shallamar as no parking and no redi zone besides converting Raghnunath Bazar as paid parking zone.
The delegations also demanded development of Suchetgarh border on the lines of Wagha Border, Mubarakh Mandi Heritage Complex, start of light and sound show at Bagh-e-Bahu, completion of Twai Barrage, development of tourist destinations in Jammu like Sanasar, Surinsar, Mansar to attract more tourist footfall in the region.
On Tawi Barrage project, the Advisor said he recently visited the project site and also convened a review meeting on the said project. Consultants from IIT Rorkee has conducted a visit to the site and will submit a report on it, he added.
Later, several public delegations and individuals including Sarpanch, Panchayat Halqa Dodasan Balla, Remote District Rajouri and inhabitants of Panchayat Jagti met the Advisor and sought redressal of their issues and grievances.
