Srinagar: Suspected militants lobbed grenades at security pickets in Srinagar and Shopian on Friday.
Reports said that shortly after the Friday congregational prayers, unidentified persons threw a grenade towards the security vehicle near Ghanta Ghar Lal Chowk. However, it missed the target and exploded a bit away from the security picket. The blast damaged the windowpanes of a parked vehicle (JK01AH-0279).
A police party rushed to spot to assess the situation.
Suspected militants also lobbed a grenade on SOG Camp in Gagran area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district. However, in this incident, there was no loss of life or injury reported.
The area was cordoned off shortly after the incident; however, no arrests were made.
