LMD imposes Rs 25000 fine on paint manufacturing company

Samba: Continuing with their efforts to enforce mandatory declaration on all the pre-packed goods for the information of consumers, the department of Legal Metrology Samba fined a leading paint manufacturing company for violating the provisions of the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules 2011.
Assistant Controller Legal Metrology, Samba, Rajesh Heera, informed that on inspection of hardware store, it was observed that the packages of paint were offered for sale to the consumers without declaring MRP. Some of the deceptive packages were seized from the defaulter traders and a legal notice was served to management of the firm.
Responding to legal notice of LMD, the management of the firm admitted its guilt and pleaded for composition of the case at department level.
Assistant Controller, after assurances from the defaulting company said they will not repeat any kind of offence under law in future, compounded the case and imposed a fine of Rs 25000 on them.
