Er Rasheed welcomes governor’s offer to Hurriyat, asks him to prove his words

Srinagar: Former legislator and Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) chief Er Rasheed on Wednesday welcomed the governor Satya Pal Malik’s offer to Hurriyat, saying he should move a step further by releasing all political prisoners languishing in various jails.
In a statement, an AIP spokesman said that Rasheed talked to the governor on phone and asked him to move a step further and facilitate certain genuine confidence building measures to prove his words. “He (Rasheed) sought special intervention from the Governor to help release of Shahid-ul-Islam (Hurriyat leader) whose wife is fighting a battle for his release,” the spokesman said.
Rasheed, as per the spokesman, also sought release of all political prisoners including Masrat Alam, Qasim Faktoo, Asia Andrabi and her associates, “so that atmosphere turns conducive for sincere political process.”
Er. Rasheed asked Governor to intervene and take up the matter of filing the charge-sheet against Kashmiri students studying at JNU.
