Shopian: A complete shutdown against the killing of Al Badr Commander Zeenat Ul Islam and his his associate in a gunfight with government forces in Kulgam district last Saturday hit normal life on Monday in South Kashmir’s Shopian district .
All shops and other commercial establishments are closed in the district while transport is off the roads.
Islam and his aide Shakeel Ahmad were shot dead by the forces in a brief shootout in Yaripora area of the neighbouring Kulgam district on Saturday last week .
Meanwhile, Internet continues to remain suspended in Shopian district on third straight day. The service was suspended soon after the news of Islam’s killing started doing the rounds on Saturday evening.
