Kargil: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan Wednesday highlighted the need to protect animals from maltreatment and called for spreading mass awareness about animal rights.
The CEC was chairing a meeting at Council Secretariat, convened to review the status of the evacuation of stray animals from Kharbathang Plateau.
Executive Councillor for Agriculture Zakir Hussain, Executive Councillor for Zanskar Affairs Er Punchoq Tashi, Councillor Kargil Town Haji Muhammad Abbass, Councillor Poyen Muhammad Amin, Councillor Pashkum Kacho Muhammad Feroz, Superintendent of Police Kargil Dr Vinod Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil Sonam Chosjor, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Kargil Dr Fida Hussain and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
The CEC stressed on the need to impart training to vets and their assistants for spreading community awareness for due care of animals in the society and instructed the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer to take requisite steps in this regard.
