Advisor (K) visits DH, GMCs Anantnag, Baramulla

Srinagar:  Advisor to Governor, Vijay Kumar Wednesday inspected patient care facilities at district hospitals (DH) and ongoing work at Government Medical Colleges, Anantnag and Baramulla.

During his visit to Mirza Mohammad Afzal Beigh Memorial District Hospital, Anantnag, the Advisor reviewed the status of arrangements for running Government Medical College there.

The Advisor directed the JKPCC to ensure completion of labs and renovation of lecture halls   within the stipulated time frame.

The Advisor along with Principal Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Atal Dullo and Principal GMC, Anantnag also reviewed the working of District Hospital.

Chief Medical Officer and Medical Superintendent highlighted the main achievements of the hospital. He said this year the hospital treated 1485 hepatitis-C patients, conducted 2600 dialysis, 3831 blood infusion besides  2525 head surgeries. He was also informed that under PM-JAY 1090 patients have been registered in the hospital.

On the demand of local public, the Advisor ordered opening of another entry gate near the hospital to ensure the safety of patients.

The Advisor also directed Deputy Commissioner and Principal Government Medical College Anantnag to ensure the follow up of speedy construction work of GMC, Anantnag.

The Advisor also visited GMC, Anantnag being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.139 crore. The MD JKPCC informed the Advisor that out of 10 blocks, 07 blocks will be completed by the end of 2019 while rest 03 blocks will be completed by the end of October, 2020. He also informed that Rs.50 crore have been spent against an availability of Rs104 crore.

Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Younis Malik, SSP, and other senior officers of the district Administration were also present.

Later, the Advisor visited Baramulla and inspected status of work on Government Medical College Building which taken up at a cost of Rs. 139 crore.

The Advisor was accompanied by Principal Secretary Health and Medical Education Atal Dullo, District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Dr Nasir Naqash, Director Health Services Kashmir and other senior officers.

The Advisor reviewed the progress on the Medical College complex and discussed various issues with the management and concerned officers. He expressed satisfaction over the progress and hailed the efforts of the hospital management.

The Advisor directed the concerned to speed up pace of work and ensure the completion of the project within the stipulated time frame.

The Advisor also inspected various sections and facilities at the District hospital which include special New Born Care Unit, Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre, Lecture Hall, Dialysis Centre, Physiology Lab, Dissection Hall, Reconciliation Bay and Administrative section. In Dialysis Centre, the Advisor talked to the patients and enquired about the available facilities. Medical Superintendent Dr. Masood on the occasion apprised the Advisor about the facilities being provided to the patients.
