Tral: Unknown gunmen shot dead the brother of a Sarpanch in Tral town of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
An official said that some unknown gunmen opened fire upon a man Simranjeet Singh son of Nanak Singh a resident of Khasipora at Tral.
In the incident, Simranjeet received bullet wounds and was immediately shifted to Tral hospital where from he was referred to Srinagar for treatment.
Singh succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Reports said that the slain man is the brother of Sarpanch Khasipora Rajindar Singh. Rajindar was earlier with Congress but later contested as an independent candidate.
Soon after the attack, army, police, and CRPF launched a search operation to nab the assailants, however, no arrests were made during the operation.
