EC Works seeks early start of air services to Kargil

Kargil: Executive Councillor for Works and Information Nassir Hussain Munshi on Friday met top ranking officers to discuss the issues related to Kargil District.
Accompanied by former MLA Kargil Haji Asgar Karbalai, EC works met with the Financial Commissioner Housing and Urban Development K.B Aggarwal, Principal Secretary Planning and Civil Aviation Rohit Kansal, Secretary Ladakh Affairs Rigzin Sampheal at Civil Secretariat Jammu and called for early operationalisation of air services to Kargil.
Discussing the issue with Rohit Kansal, the EC and the former MLA stressed on the start of the air services to Kargil under UDAN scheme besides the operationalisation of Pawan Hans Helicopter Services.
The Principal Secretary informed the EC and the former MLA that the matter pertaining to air services has already been taken up with the concerned at the Centre level and the air service is expected to be operated in near future.
It was further informed that Pawan Hans Helicopter Service for Kargil, Drass and Zanskar is scheduled to kick start from January 15, 2019.
In the meeting with the Financial Commissioner Housing and Urban Development, the EC and the former MLA projected demand for allotment of funds for the construction of multilevel parking in Kargil town. They also urged upon the Financial Commissioner to take the LAHDC, Kargil on board for consultations before finalising the Master Plan for Kargil Town.
The Financial Commissioner assured the EC and former MLA that funds for the construction of multilevel parking shall be released in due course of time. He also issued on spot instructions to the Senior Town Planner to visit Kargil and hold meetings and consultations before finalising the Master Plan for Kargil Town.
Meanwhile, during their meeting with the Secretary Ladakh Affairs, the EC and the former MLA raised issues like the payment of wages to casual labourers as well as their regularisation in different departments in the district.
The Secretary Ladakh Affairs said a few employees of Soil Conservation Department have already been regularised while as such cases of Medical and other departments is under the active consideration of the Government which he said shall be examined and steps taken in a phased manner.
The Secretary further informed that funds released by the Finance Department to Ladakh Affairs Department have now been uploaded on BEA He further said funds on account of Councillor’s salaries and PHE tanker services have also been released.
