Poonch: Two soldiers of Indian army were buried under a snow avalanche when it hit an army post in Sawjian sector of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.
Official sources said that an army post of 40 Rashtriya Rifles came under an avalanche on Thursday morning at KK Galki, forward area in Sawjian sector along the line of control.
Two soldiers came under the avalanche. They were evacuated and shifted to hospital after hard efforts. However, one of them succumbed in the hospital.
An official identified the deceased soldiers as Lance Naik Sapan Mehra of Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. He added that the injured soldier Sepoy Harpreet Singh of Punjab is undergoing treatment.
A police official confirmed that two soldiers were buried after avalanche hit army post. “One soldier breathed his last while another is critical,” he added.
