Ramban: DDC declares open sports tournament under ‘Khelo India’

Ramban: District Development Commissioner, Showkat Aijaz Bhat, Thursday launched inter block district level sports meet by declaring open a marathon sports tournament as part of the Khelo India initiative, “Sports for Peace and Development”.
The opening tournament will witness separate competitions for Boys and Girls in Football, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Athletics, Cricket, and Rural Sport Wrestling besides other games in which students of all zones of district are participating.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC appealed the youth of the district to participate in large number in such competitions. He said Khelo India scheme has been launched with an objective to involve youth in sports activities to channelize their energy in right direction and imbibe leadership qualities, team spirit and discipline among them. He asked the students to use sports and education as a tool to prevent them from crime and drug use for their overall development besides contributing towards building a powerful nation.
