Srinagar/Jan, 2: Fresh landslides triggered by the fresh snowfall near Jawahar tunnel Wednesday morning closed Srinagar-Jammu highway.
A traffic police official said ‘Srinagar-Jammu highway was closed for traffic today morning after fresh snowfall on both sides of the Jawahar Tunnel’
Weatherman has predicted moderate rain or snow during the next 24 hours with possibility of heavy snowfall on January 4 and 5 which could lead to disruption of surface and air transportation.
The official said the road has become slippery due to accumulation of several inches of snow near the tunnel.
“Traffic will be allowed only after improvement in the weather,” he said, adding that vehicles were to ply from Jammu to Kashmir as per schedule.
