Raja Ajaz Ali joins People’s Conference

Srinagar: Former Senior Peoples Democratic Party leader Raja Aijaz Ali Khan on Wednesday formally joined Peoples Conference led by Sajad Lone.
Raja Aijaz the former police officer, who retired as IGP, had joined PDP as part of his post-retirement engagement. He contested polls on PDP mandate from Uri in 2014 and ended up runner-up with almost 19,000 votes. In recent days, Raja was representing the party on crucial issues on various TV debates within the state.
With Khan’s joining of PC, the PDP has lost almost more than half a dozen leaders so far. These include Dr Haseeb A Drabu, Syed Basharat Bukhari, Imran Raza Ansari, Abid Ansari, Mohammad Abbas Wani, Peer Hussian, Raja Aijaz Ali Khan, Mehboob Iqbal, Bashir Ahmad Runiyal and Bakir Rizvi. One has gone to NC, four to PC and others are keeping their cards close to their chests.
