Srinagar: A farmers’ camp was Monday organised by Directorate of Agriculture here to celebrate the National Farmers Day.
Director Kashmir Syed Altaf Aijaz Andrabi inaugurated the camp and extended heartiest greetings to the farmers. He said farmers are the real heroes who produce food for the public and the prosperity of a nation depends upon the wellbeing of the farming community.
The Director stressed upon the officers to reach out to the farmers and provide them with every kind of assistance and advice on a real-time basis.
He impressed upon the officers to take the farmers on board while preparing any farmer friendly scheme or program. He asked the farmers to adopt area-based integrated farming and cultivate high-value crops with value addition to increase their income.
Chief Agriculture Officer Srinagar Syed Waseem Ahmad Shah said the department is always there to support the farming community.
On the occasion, some progressive participating farmers shared their experience in adopting integrated farming and success stories.
While interacting with the farmers, the experts of the Department delivered awareness lecturers regarding Apiculture, Mushroom, Crop Husbandry, Vegetable Production, and made the farmers aware about various farmer welfare schemes being undertaken by the department.
Among others present were Joint Director Agriculture Inputs Deepak Kumar Kuchroo, District Officers, Sub Divisional Level Officers, other concerned and more than 100 male and female farmers.
