Legal Metrology, FCS&CA Samba celebrate National Consumer Day

Samba: The Department of FCS&CA and Legal Metrology Department Samba jointly celebrated National Consumer Day here Monday with the theme “Timely Disposal of Consumer Complaints”.
A large number of students participated in the function.
Assistant Controller LMD Rajesh Heera and Assistant Director FCS&CA Davinder Singh highlighted the role of their respective departments in safeguarding the interests of the consumers and made the participants aware about their rights as consumers.
The Consumers were urged to assert their right and discharge their responsibilities while making purchase and availing services. They were impressed upon to demand valid bill and check mandatory declarations while buying pre-packed commodities and on finding any violation/ consumers should approach the department for redressal.
The Consumers were also made aware about expiry date of LPG cylinders and checking the weight of cylinders at the time of delivery.
Resource person, Inspector Legal Metrology Samba Mohsin Khateeb explained various know how’s including the possibilities of manipulation in weights and Measuring instruments, MRP of package commodities etc.
He also advised the Consumers present to check the mandatory declaration like Maximum Retail Price (MRP), Date of Packing(PKD), Complete address of the manufacturer/ Packer, Net weight of the Commodity, Name of the commodity and Customer care Number on the pre- packed commodities before purchasing these commodities.
Among others present were Inspector LMD, TSO Samba, Head master and other staff members of the school.
