Srinagar: Senior People’s Democratic Party leader Bashir Ahmed Runyal Monday left the party after he tendered his resignation.
Runyal, a former IAS officer who was Ramban district president and state secretary of the PDP, had joined the party prior to the 2014 assembly polls after his retirement and had unsuccessfully contested the elections from Banihal constituency.
Runiyal confirmed that he tendered his resignation from the basic membership of the party. He said he will context the upcoming Assembly elections as Independent candidate.
When asked whether he intends to join any other political party, he said he has not taken any decision yet and is mulling to contest the upcoming Assembly elections as Independent candidate.
