Ramban: District Development Commissioner, Showkat Aijaz Bhat, Saturday inaugurated the fruit and vegetable preservation training program organised by the Horticulture Department (HD) here Saturday.
Others present on the occasion were Chief Horticulture Officer, Mukesh Kumar, Farm Manager, Rajesh Dhar and other officers whiles Omkar Singh and Farooq Ahmed were the resource persons.
The experts from Horticulture Canning Units, Jammu imparted the demonstration and technical guidance/knowhow of making pickles and fruit jam to more than 30 women belonging to different panchyats of Ramban for improving their food preparation skills besides setting-up of the fruit & vegetable processing unit.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC appreciated the horticulture department for organising the training program. He directed the CHO to organise such programs in far-flung areas especially for women folk besides involving self help groups, Panchayats, Yuva Kendras etc.
CHO informed that the interested candidates can contact the horticulture office or respective unit incharges through written communication or telephonically for taking advance training under 3 month and six months courses.
