HC Stays Further KAS Selection

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Friday stayed further selection process in KAS examination 2016, fortnight after J&K Public Service Commission declared the result for mains examination.
The Combined Competitive (Mains) examination was held from July 2 to August 8 this year. 6427 candidates had appeared in the examination and 963 candidates qualified for personality test/ viva-voice.
“Meanwhile, till next date of hearing, there shall be stay of further selection process,” said a division bench of Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Sanjeev Kumar while hearing a suo-moto petition.
The division bench also issued notice to J&K Public Service Commission, asking it to file detailed counter affidavit “meeting objections pointed out by the aggrieved candidates and show cause as to why this petition be not admitted.”
The directions by the division bench followed submissions by a number of aggrieved candidates, who were present in person and raised issues with regard to KAS examination notification of 2016.
They complained of data corruption and huge human error beside digital marking in the examination.
In addition, they submitted that J&KPSC has resorted to arbitrary scaling and moderation which was not mentioned in the notification when the posts were advertised.
The aggrieved candidates also placed before court a representation dated 17 December with signatures of 83 applicants.
The court also appointed senior advocate Z.A.Shah as Amicus Curie who will be assisted by Ms. Mokshah Kazmi.
“Learned Amicus shall examine the matter and place appropriate written submissions before the next date,” the court said posted the petition for further consideration on January 28.
