Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday issued an advisory, making Badami Bagh cantonment areas in Srinagar off limits for traffic in view of separatists ‘Chinar Corps headquarters challo’ call on Monday.
A traffic police spokesperson on Sunday said in view of security restrictions in Srinagar on Monday traffic will not be allowed to ply on Pantha Chowk-Sonawar-Dalgate Road stretch.
He asked people who intend to travel to South Kashmir to take Bypass Road.
Similarly, he said people coming from South Kashmir shall adopt Bypass Road to reach City Centre.
“People who have to travel from Nishat and adjacent areas to reach City Centre shall adopt Boulevard-Badyari Road,” he said.
The advisory said no traffic shall be allowed to ply on Gupkar Road stretch from Grand Place Crossing. “Commuters are requested to use alternate routes to reach their destinations,” he said.
Any inconvenience caused is highly regretted, he added.
Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq and Mohammad Yaseen Malik, has called for a strike till Monday against killing of seven civilians in clashes with security forces in Pulwama on Sunday. The JRL has also asked people to march to Army’s 15 Corps headquarters in Badami Bagh cantonment in Srinagar on Monday.
Seven civilians were killed in clashes, which were triggered after an encounter ensued between militants and security forces that left three ultras dead on Saturday in south Kashmir district of Pulwama. An Army jawan was also killed in the encounter.
