Srinagar: Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) and Central University of Kashmir (CUK) have postponed examinations scheduled to be held on Monday in view of strike called by separatists against killing of seven civilians in clashes with security forces on Saturday in Pulwama.
A spokesman for the IUST said class work and all scheduled examinations have been suspended on Monday in the university. However, no reason was given for postponing examinations.
He said fresh dates for exams will be announced later.
Meanwhile, a CUK spokesperson said that the university authorities have postponed all the examinations scheduled on Monday.
Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq and Mohammad Yaseen Malik, has called for a strike till Monday against Pulwama killings. The JRL has also asked people to march to Army’s 15 Corps headquarters in Badami Bagh cantonment in Srinagar on Monday.
Seven civilians were killed in clashes, which were triggered after an encounter ensued between militants and security forces that left three ultras dead on Saturday in south Kashmir district of Pulwama. An Army jawan was also killed in the encounter.
