Jammu: 15th December 2018, Ladakh Losar Festival-2018 was celebrated in an extra ordinary manner here Saturday at Abhinav Theatre by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. More than 4000 artists and lovers of art participated in the day long Festival. Featuring screening an internationally acclaimed film “Shepherdess of the Glacier” of renowned film maker of Ladakh Stanzin Dorjai Gya and colorful cultural performances by artists representing varying regions of Ladakh. The festival was viewed as first of its kind by most of the people attending the festival.
In first session while expressing his views about the festival Chief Guest Haji Anayat Ali, Hon’ble Chairman, J&K Legislative Council said that festival has been organized in a fascinating manner & JKAACL deserves lot of appreciation for organizing such grand event at Jammu. He highlighted the roll of Students of Ladakh who have shown their enthusiasm in making the event memorable one. Guest of Honour Former Minister Tsering Dorjey in his address said that such successful festivals are rarely seen not only in the State but even outside. Secretary JKAACL Dr. Aziz Hajini was also present on the occasion. While welcoming the guests, artists and other lovers of art he said we feel honoured to host Ladakh Losar festival. “By organizing such events we celebrate the cultural and lingual diversity of the state” said Hajini while describing the role of artists and writers in spreading the message of love, brotherhood and oneness across the board. The musical event festival enthralled the jam packed audience at Abhinav Theatre. The evening besides others was attended by Former Minster Sh. Nawang Rigzin Jora also.
During the festival, the renowned Ladakhi singers were also performed. The singers among them are Dorjey Stakmo, Padma Dolkar, Faisal Khan Ashoor, Sheerin Fatima, Septay Hassan Kaleem (Balti), Mukhtar Ahmad Zahid (Shina) and Stanzin Edzes ( Barbei).
The Losar Festival was supported by All Ladakh Students Association Jammu (ALSAJ), Students Association of Ladakh Jammu (SAOLJ), All Ladakh Students Welfare Association Jammu (ALSWAJ) and All Zanskar Students Association Jammu (AZSAJ).
