A new initiative that spread across world, now landed in Kashmir. The wall of kindness that was seen last week in Srinagar now spread in other districts of south Kashmir. However, the wall of kindness, was earlier started somewhere else, why it takes so much time to reach Kashmir. But when it reached Kashmir, people from all sections appreciated it. The people of Kashmir are the worst victims of conflict, every day coffins, Cordon and search operations, mid-night raids and arbitrary detention have crossed all limits. The Indian security forces also left no stone unturned, from collateral damage to civilian killings, all marks its day in the valley. Besides all consequences, the people from the valley are initiating this movement.
This initiative in the valley was taken by a group of youth associated with an organization called “who is Hussain”. The member of the organization used hooks around the wall near hotel Pamposh in Srinagar. The purpose of generating the wall of kindness is to spread the message of love across from the berries of religion, color or creed. The wall of kindness is a charity work, which marks that if you do not need it, leave it, if you need, take it. Earlier, the walls were constructed to confine our space or to shield our property from others. Now, in global world, similar walls are turning into places of love, sharing, caring and kindness.
The wall of kindness is also known as Deewar-e-Meherbani. It can be categorized as one of the movement for the welfare being. The movement that stood for charity not only in Kashmir, but around the world. The main motive of this charity is put hooks on a wall for hanging clothes that are intended for donation to those, who need them. The beginning of the movement was started in Iran in December 2015, which spread within no time. Now, the wall of kindness are found everywhere and in north India. This set up is called Nekikideewar. A simple charity movement that started from a Muslim country crossed all borders. It marked that humanity is above religion. This wall of kindness is more than donating as it laid the symbol of humanity and solidarity across borders.
In Kashmir valley, the wall of kindness reincarnated the humanity. This movement spread within no time. It is remarkable, that such initiatives whether it started in Iran, or any other place. This act of charity not only helped the poor in such harsh winter, but it wins the hearts and minds of the people. The question arises, does this initiative remains limited to clothes and only in winter. If so, then it is mere a publicity that is trending on social media. In every society, black sheeps would be forefront in such public works, then later on, they gave it the color of religion. It should be noted, if such initiative adopts religion colour, then it would create problem as we have witnessed in 2014 floods. The wall of kindness should not be limited to clothes, books and shoes. Besides that, there are so many other requirements that needy people need. It is responsibility of every individual to support morally as well as materially to those, who started this initiative. By such set up’s, the valley would provide the example of harmony, love, care, hospitality for which it is known in the world.
