JK Cong’s imaginations far from realities

Though State Congress President Gh Ahmad Mir may be knowing it himself that imaginations are very rarely changed into realities in politics and when it comes to imagine about the outcome of the assembly elections in Jammu & Kashmir the possibilities of changing imaginations into realities not only become difficult but impossible as well. Congress party may see winds of changes blowing in Hindi heartland including the states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chatisgarah reaching Jammu and Ladhak regions of Jammu & Kashmir state but these winds of change can’t reach Kashmir where the political emotions of the people are in contract to the priorities of the national level political parties. In Kashmir the issues of priority are the security of life and property , withdrawal of draconian laws, protection of the legislations concerning special status of the state and the conflict resolution processes revolving around the intra Kashmir dialogue and resumption of Indo-Pak bilateral talks. For any national party particularly Congress and BJP the resolution of issues concerning people of Kashmir is an indefensible offence and more so in election time. As far as the Congress party is concerned the people of Kashmir blame this party for the erosion of all laws concerning the special status of Jammu & Kashmir, application of draconian laws and the eruption of more than 25 year old continuing phase of public unrest in Kashmir.

Congress or BJP can be part of any coalition government in Jammu but they can’t even think about becoming a dominant force in any coalition government keeping in view the irrelevance of the agenda of national level political parties in Kashmir.

A party which people believe is responsible for almost two and a half decade old public unrest can’t even think about emerging as single largest party in the assembly elections the time when regional political parties National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will be tending to fight the national parties like Congress and BJP with their full might. Regional parties will continue to dominate the political scene till the core issues concerning security of life and property of the people, special status of the state and dialogue for resolution of the basic political sentiment are addressed by New Delhi. Congress or BJP can be part of any coalition government in Jammu but they can’t even think about becoming a dominant force in any coalition government keeping in view the irrelevance of the agenda of national level political parties in Kashmir.
