Secy RDD reviews RSETI performance, flags-off mobilization vans for Himayat

Jammu: Secretary, Rural Development Department, Sheetal Nanda chaired a review meeting of the performance of Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) at Panchayati Bhawan here Friday.

The meeting was attended by Director General, Department of Rural Development, Rihana Batool, Mission Director, JKSRLM (Umeed), Abdul Rashid Var, Chief Operation Officer, Umeed, Kapil Sharma and representatives of JK Bank, SBI and NABARD.

In the meeting, elaborate discussions were held on a slew of issues ranging from status of land allotment to RSETI, construction of RSETI premises and reimbursement of training expenses to RSETIs by SRLM/Himayat.

The Secretary stressed upon finalisation of lease deed by 15 December, 2018 and completion of other formalities such as building design, approval etc by 31 January, 2019 adding that the  same should be sent to National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD).

She also directed that all the pending issues related to land acquisition should be solved within two weeks.

Pertinent to mention, RSETIs are established to provide skill training to rural unemployed men and women to take up gainful self-employment. The program has been taken under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission, Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) that seeks to mitigate rural poverty through building sustainable community institutions of the poor.

Important to mention that out of 52202 candidates trained up to March, 2018 as many as 36013 candidates have been placed in various business ventures.

The issue of special credit linkage drive by MSME , GoI was also discussed in detail and express directions were issued to SRLM, NABARD, RSETIS and banks in general to ensure that the campaign is a success.

Later, Sheetal Nanda also flagged off publicity and mobilisation vans for different districts under the Himayat scheme which would be covering the district to create awareness and also registering interested candidates for training.
