Div Com (K) reviews preparedness for R-Day celebrations

Srinagar: The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan Thursday directed all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of the valley including Leh and Kargil districts to ensure smooth and colorful conduct of 70th Republic Day functions across the Kashmir Division.

The Divisional Commissioner made these directions while reviewing the arrangements and preparedness for the upcoming 70th Republic Day which will be celebrated on January 26, 2019.

The meeting was informed that the main function will be held at SK Stadium Srinagar where the Chief Guest will unfurl the National Flag and take salute during the march past.

“Fourteen contingents from different Schools and eleven contingents from force departments are participating in the march past besides band contingents”, officials informed.

Other arrangements which were discussed in threadbare include Shehnai-wadan, arrangement of proper seating as per protocol, refreshment, Public Address System, cultural program, installation of CCTV cameras, illumination of govt buildings on the eve of January 26, electricity supply, back-up supply, construction of dice, de-watering pumps, besides fire tenders.

The Divisional Commissioner directed PDD & PHE for uninterrupted Power & water supply in the prescribed venue. He also directed Health department to deploy adequate number of medical camps at the venue with proper staff, ambulance and Medicare facilities. The Traffic department was directed to provide adequate space for parking of vehicles near the venue.

He directed Hospitality and Protocol to arrange refreshment and heating arrangements for the guests. Mechanical Engineering Departments will keep their snow clearance machines in ready mode at the venue before a week. SMC will start sanitation drive around the venue before a week and also keep their men ready for the manual clearance of snow in the venue.

Divisional Commissioner was apprised by the concerned Deputy Commissioners (DCs) regarding arrangements made for smooth conduct of Independence Day celebrations in every district of the Kashmir Division including Leh and Kargil districts.

The Div Com directed all Deputy Commissioners to invite newly elected Corporators, Sarpanchs and Panchs in the Republic Day functions.

The meeting took various decisions to add new features for the 70th Republic day celebrations in the valley including Leh&Kargil.

Div Com further called for close coordination among the concerned Departments for the smooth, colourful, and peaceful conduct of the Republic Day celebrations across the valley.

DDC Srinagar Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah, Joint Director Information Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, Chief Engineers of  PDD, PHE, Director Education, Principal GMC, GM SRTC, SSP Traffic, SP Headquarters, Joint Commissioner SMC, Joint Director Youth Services and Sports, Joint Director Fire and Emergency Services, Deputy Director Health Services, Deputy Director Floriculture, Assistant Commissioner, RTO Kashmir, Superintending Engineers of R&B, Mechanical, officers from BSF, CRPF, ITBP & SSB, Cultural Academy, Manager Govt.  Press and other concerned officers were present in the meeting while as District Development Commissioners of the Valley including Leh and Kargil districts participated in the meeting through video conferencing.
