Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir has recorded 97 percent immunization of children in the age group of 0.9 to 15 year in the ongoing Measles – Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign.

The information was given at a meeting chaired by Principal Secretary, Health & Medical Education, Atal Dulloo convened here Tuesday to review the status of targets achieved under the campaign. The campaign was launched in the state on 24th September 2018.

It was informed that Kashmir Division has achieved 99 per cent immunization and Jammu division 94 percent which is almost 97 per cent of the set target for the state.

State Immunization Officer, Dr Qazi Haroon, presented a detailed power point presentation highlighting several aspects of the campaign. He informed that there is sufficient availability of MR vaccine in the State to complete the target under this ambitious program.

Expressing concern over a little low performance of the campaign in Shopian, Poonch, Rajouri and Reasi districts, Atal Dulloo asked the concerned officers to further gear up their teams to achieve the set targets in full. He said the Campaign will continue till December 15, 2018 to meet cent percent target.

The Health secretary made a fervent appeal to all to get their wards vaccinated under this program as after its closure they would not be able to get it free of cost.

Director  Family Welfare, MCH & Immunization J&K, Dr Arun Sharma, Director Health Services, Dr Samir Mattoo, Assistant Director Family Welfare, CMOs, BMOs, representatives of WHO , Deputy CMOs besides officials of the concerned department attended the meeting.
