KVIB holds distt level Bankers meet in Ganderbal

Ganderbal: Jammu and Kashmir Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) Ganderbal Saturday organized District Level Bankers meet chaired by District Development Commissioner Ganderbal Dr Piyush Singla under J&K Rural Employment Generation Program (JKREGP) at Mini Secretariat Ganderbal.
The meeting was briefed about the outlines and implementation of J&K Rural Employment Program (JKREGP) in the district.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Executive Officer KVIB Muzaffar Abdullah Alaqband said the J&KREGP is a new credit linked subsidy program with objective to harness and divert the energy and enthusiasm of the unemployed youth of the State for establishment of the productive enterprise in micro industrial sector and to create employment opportunities in rural areas of the district besides to increase the wage-earning capacity of artisans/workers and contribute to increase in the growth rate of rural employment by mobilizing the bank finance for establishment of Village Industries Sector of the state on modern lines.
While appreciating the KVIB Ganderbal, DDC said emphasis shall be laid to set up such units which are viable, produce goods and services that can be readily sold and provide employment opportunities for local people. Calling village level industries as a remedy to unemployment, he reiterated the role of a robust cottage industry in villages as a driving force behind growth and development.
DDC urged the KVIB officials for making the scheme more competitive and customer friendly by extending handhold support to aspirant entrepreneurs so that real objective of the scheme is achieved on the ground, besides Banks need to have the right staff with the requisite knowledge regarding the scheme in rural areas to mobilize the bank finance to the prospective applicants.
During the meeting, several issues raised by the bankers while sanctioning the loan to the prospective applicants were discussed in brief.
District Officer KVIB Ganderbal, Nisha Musharaf, Cluster Head J&K Bank, Farhat Abbas, Lead District Manager Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmad, all stakeholders of the district and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
